Duathlon, 5K Run, 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, and
Bike Time Trial.
What Is The iron pig duathlon?
A USA Triathlon sanctioned event that consists
of a 3 mile run, 18 mile bike and 3 mile run. This is the only duathlon
in the world that has a leg of the race on an airport runway. The
race is open to Individuals and teams of two or three people. Come
"Run The Runway"!
What are The iron pig RUN/walks?
A 5K run and a 1 Mile fun run/walk which are
both held on an airport runway. The 5K run will be one of the fastest
in the world...there is less than 40 feet elevation change. The
1 Mile Fun Run/Walk is very family friendly, so come "Run The
Runway"!
What is the Iron Pig Bike Time Trial?
A USA Cycling sanctioned 18-mile bike time
trial. Known as the "race of truth", cyclists can test
themselves against the clock. Both junior and adult categories with
a non-aero equipment category as well. Come be one of the first
to set a course record or test yourself against the times of the
duathlon competitors.
What are The Courses Like?
The first 3 mile run is on the Drake Airport
runway! Yes...the runway! An 18 mile bike that is an out and back
course on Scenic Hwy 71 and the final 3 mile run is flat and fast
as well. The finish is located just in front of the airport terminal.
This course is geared to people looking for a challenge, but is
not too hilly for an early season test. A good first-time event
for an individual or team or a great way to kickoff the race season
for the seasoned athlete.
